I got into communications long before I had a job title with communications in it.

When I was a kid, I never really felt like I fitted in, but rather than revel in that feeling, I did everything I could to merge in with my surroundings. It was this desire to be accepted that started decades of shapeshifting and learning to speak everyone’s language – except my own.

But herein lies the rub, I’m no wallflower. I’m loud, I talk a lot, I overshare, it’s how I connect with people.

Now I specialise in working with business women who need help finding their business' voice and shouting out loud about it!

I've spent the past 20 years traveling and living abroad. Originally, I'm from Melbourne Australia, but as soon as I could stretch my legs and travel, I did.

My 20s were busy with adventure. I did everything from work on a cattle station in the Australian Outback, to being a flight attendant in Dubai, a wedding planner in Melbourne and I even played farmer's wife in the deep south of New Zealand.

When I turned 30, I moved back to Melbourne to study and began my career in communications. I spent six years in the corporate sector in online and outdoor advertising and after having our daughter in 2013, I moved into freelancing.

Freelancing was fun, but I wanted more, so I set up Renée Ballard Communications so I could get serious about establishing a business that is truly here to help businesses find their voice so they can connect with their target audiences.

"I thoroughly enjoyed Social Media for Small Business taught by Renée! To me, the value in working with Renee, are as follows:

  • Renée has a depth of knowledge about all the different social media platforms. She de-mystified the many platforms, and their best uses, and encourages us to have a presence on all, but to only build on the ones we enjoy and are best suited to our goals.
  • Renée helped me realize that posting was tribe building. She encourages you to go as authentic as possible in posting which I think is important, especially as an illustrator, (which I am). It can be a slow process, or a fast process,… but it IS a process. It’s a ‘build”, if you look at it as a way to connect authentically with your audience.
  • Renée has a depth of knowledge about marketing and branding. The concept of branding was especially fascinating to me- and something I hadn’t considered related to my work. It was a crucial internal shift.

If social media seems mysterious or daunting, take this class. So much will clear up for you. Plus, you’ll enjoy Renée, who is just a joy."

Kind words from Kimberly Gee

Renée is so kind, supportive and funny...and her knowledge is vast.

Many thanks from Debra A.

I look at communications...and life really...with these two questions:

What do you have to say?    How are you going to say it?

That's why I'm here. I want to know what you have to say. And, I want to know how I can help you make that happen.
